Insplorion – Exploring the innermost

Insplorion AB is a Swedish company that develops and markets its proprietary technology NanoPlasmonic Sensing*. NPS is a new way to perform real-time optical material studies at the nanoscale, enabling researchers to investigate for example molecular changes in nanomaterials. Insplorion’s main product is a scientific instrument system which is sold to scientists in many different fields of research throughout the world.

The technology is also being developed for specific sensor system applications for industrial monitoring and interactive products.

Insplorions technology has been developed for some ten years under Professor Bengt Kasemos management at the Department of Chemical Physics at Chalmers University of Technology. The research resulted in a patent application in 2009, after which Insplorion was founded in 2010. The company has since developed the technology with focus on commercial applications.

*: Insplorion’s proprietary technology is called NanoPlasmonic Sensing (NPS). The measuring principle is based on an optical phenomenon that occurs in leading nanoparticles. In Insplorion’s scientific instrument system millions of leading nanoparticles, often gold, distributed on a 1 cm2 glass surface constitute the actual sensor.
