Insplorion's gas sensor patent has today, September 18th 2019, been granted by the European Patent Office, EPO.

The gas sensor patent application "Surface plasmon resonance gas sensor, gas sensing system, and gas sensing method" was filed in December 2014 and covers the coating of the sensor surface with different materials to obtain high sensitivity and specificity to selected gases. It thus protects Insplorion’s applications within different types of gas sensing, for example air quality monitoring. The patent, EP3084400, provides protection in selected EU countries until 18 December 2034*.  The patent is previously granted in the US and with pending applications in China and India.

The next step for the European market is a validation process for a number of strategically and commercially relevant countries within the European Patent Convention. The validation means that the EP patent will be registered as granted in each selected country.

"That the IP position for our Air Quality sensor now has been strengthened, with a granted patent in EU, is very timely since we are now approaching its market introduction”, says Elin Langhammer, CTO at Insplorion.
