Finalists for the New Energy Challenge 2020

September 17, 2020

The Finalist program is designed by Rockstart with the goal of getting us prepared for the Finals in November, where we will be pitching our pilot proposition to the jury. The program will kick off in October and will include sessions for us to meet Shell experts, NEC Alumni, as well as get training on how to convey our pilot proposition in style. While we had the notion that our hydrogen sensor is competitive, given that it’s the world’s fastest, getting the attention of a giga-energy company like shell and being part of the finalists is very encouraging. It’s also great knowing that we will be contributing to the transition to a fossil fuel free future.

The New Energy Challenge is a start-up competition, jointly organized by Shell, Rockstart, YES! Delft and Get in the Ring. The competition is designed for entrepreneurs in Europe and Israel who are developing advanced technologies and disruptive solutions that could be vital in accelerating the energy transition.

In the coming decade, the world will need an increasing amount of energy to meet the growing demand that is required to ensure the quality of life for people across the world. At the same time, we need to lower our CO2 emissions to tackle climate change. An energy carrier that can significantly accelerate the energy transition is hydrogen. Besides hydrogen, Shell is developing other sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels such as ammonia, advanced biofuels, and synthetic fuels, all of which possess the ability to reshape the current fuel market. In addition, they are also targeting the chemicals industry which also holds great potential for decarbonization.

We are excited to join the other finalists of the 2020 New Energy Challenge and hope to plan a winning pilot in the coming months!
